Locally, it was a night to honor the life of George Floyd and March for Peace in Phoenix Park as Eau Claire joined cities around the world in the cry for change.
In other parts of our state the cause continues. Protesters in Madison are celebrating the life of Breonna Taylor, a black emergency room technician killed by police in Louisville, Kentucky back in March.
People of all ages gathered in James Madison Park on what would have been Taylor’s 27th birthday. This seventh day of protest against police brutality included a six-hour barbecue, rap performances and other activities, organized by local groups Urban Triage and Freedom, Inc.
Taylor was shot police eight times as officers executed a no-knock search warrant.
