More than a dozen state lawmakers want Governor Tony Evers to do more to protect the State Capitol from damage. Fifteen Republicans signed a letter to the governor on Friday asking that he do more to protect the statehouse, the grounds, and the statues and memorials from protesters.
The lawmakers say vandals have spray painted and defaced many of the Capitol’s most well known memorials. The Republicans say they support the protesters who are in the streets peacefully, but they want something done to stop people who are looking to damage and destroy.
