In a year when Wisconsin lawmakers expect to be two billion-dollars short, the state’s superintendent is asking for nearly a billion-and-a-half dollars more. State Superintendent Carolyn Standford-Smith yesterday submitted her budget request. It includes one-point-four billion-dollars more for schools. Evers to Address COVID-19 Status in WI

Governor Tony Evers will deliver a statewide address on COVID-19.  The governor’s office says he will deliver his speech around 6:00 this evening.  The state reported nearly 71-hundred new COVID-19 cases today, breaking the previous one-day record set on Saturday.  There are also a record 66 deaths reported today.

More Information Expected in Devils Lake Park Murder

Police in Sauk County will be releasing information regarding a murder at Devil’s Lake State Park.  The County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference tomorrow morning, but did not give out specifics except to say it is about the fatal stabbing of John Schmuzter last month.  Schmutzer was stabbed in broad daylight near the park’s Grotto’s Trail.  The suspect is a man described as between five-foot-ten and six feet tall, wearing a dark head covering and face covering.  He

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like…

 A 55-foot tall Colorado Engelman spruce tree is starting its trip to the nation’s capital to serve as the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree.  The spruce was cut down last Thursday and loaded onto a semitrailer for its 17-hundred mile trip from Colorado to Washington, D.C.  Each year a new tree is selected from among the country’s 155 National Forests to be displayed on the west lawn of the Capitol building.

K-9 Unit Assists in Locating Suspect

On November 7th, Sawyer County Deputies were dispatched to the Town of Spider Lake to look for a vehicle containing a subject who had reportedly been involved in a theft in Ashland County. Shortly after 10:00am, a Sawyer County Deputy located the vehicle near the intersection of State Highway 77 and County Highway OO. Teenager Arrested After High Speed Chase

On November 7th at nearly 3 in the morning, a Sawyer County Deputy observed a silver colored sedan traveling southbound at a very high rate of speed near the intersection of CTH K and CTH E in Bass Lake Township.
