The Badgers snap a ten-game losing streak at Michigan State with a Christmas win over the Spartans.  D’Mitrik Trice led the Badgers this afternoon with 29 points in the 85-to-76 victory.  It’s the first win for the Badgers in East Lansing since 2004.   Wisconsin improved to 8-and-1 overall and 2-and-0 in the Big Ten.

WI Sees Bump At Pump

The average cost of regular gas in Wisconsin is up eleven-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the price per gallon in the Badger State is 2.05 while the national average is 2.21.  The price at the pump jumped 17-cents-a-gallon in Appleton today 2.02.  Drivers are paying 2.15-a-gallon in La Crosse, 2.02 in Madison and two-dollars in Milwaukee.

WI Coronavirus Snapshot

The latest coronavirus numbers in Wisconsin show some good news. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported that nearly 92- percent of people who’ve ever tested positive for the virus have now recovered. DHS also reported that the state’s seven-day positive average fell below nine-percent. But DHS, however, is also reporting an uptick in deaths. The state’s death rate is now at one-percent. Back The Blue Donations Used for Upgrades

Chippewa Falls Police are using 10-thousand-dollars from some former officers to upgrade their cameras. The Chippewa Falls Police Department Alumni Association donated the money this week. The department will use it to buy a new pole camera. Pole cameras are used to keep an eye on high crime areas. The money came from donations to Chippewa Falls’ Back the Blue campaign.

Conditions a Factor in Multiple Vehicle Crash

On Thursday, December 24th, at little past 9 in the morning, The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple crashes and slide-ins on HWY 53 northbound, near the Eau Claire County and Chippewa County line. The first call involved a vehicle that had spun out and was partially blocking the right lane. The NORAD Santa Tracker is up and running.  The North American Aerospace Defense Command has activated its annual Santa Tracker website at NORADsanta.org, and there are Santa Tracker apps available for iOS and Android devices.  It’s the 65th year that NORAD, which protects North American airspace, has kept track of Santa as he delivers toys on Christmas Eve.  The tradition started in 1955 when a Sears store in Colorado Springs listed a phone number for their Santa Hotline and accidentally printed the number to NORAD’s

WI DHS Adds Over 2,500 COVID-19 Cases

Donation to Help Marshfield Children’s Hospital

A big donation to Marshfield Children’s Hospital will make it easier for kids undergoing an MRI.  The money will go towards buying a new movie system for the hospital’s new MRI scanner.  Officials say the visual distraction will cut down on the need for children to be sedated for the test.  The Christmas in July Charity donated 43-thousand-dollars to the Marshfield Hospital yesterday.

Charlotte & Jack Lead the Lists

Charlotte and Jack are the top girls and boys names of 2020 at SSM Health Saint Mary’s Hospital.  Officials unveiled the top five names for newborn boys and girls yesterday.  The boys list is led by Jack followed by Henry, Theodore, Mason and Calvin.  The top girls’ names after Charlotte are Eleanor, Madeline and a tie with Quinn, Olivia and Evelyn.  Last year’s most popular names of Grace and Owen didn’t make the top five this year.
