Kenosha’s Mayor Urging Calm

Kenosha’s mayor is not saying if charges will be brought against the officer who shot Jacob Blake back in August, or even when the decision will be made. But Mayor John Antaramian is asking for peace when that decision does come. The mayor wrote an op-ed in the Kenosha News recently. Badgers Drop Ball

 The University of Wisconsin didn’t make fans feel very confident in its game against Maryland. The Badgers lost last night, 70-64, in what was a sloppy and ugly game. Wisconsin shot poorly from the free throw line and could not find a rhythm on either offense or defense all night. The Badgers are currently ranked sixth in the nation, that is expected to change when the new poll comes out.

WI Coronavirus Continues Downward Trend

It is the latest sign that Wisconsin has perhaps moved past the spike in coronavirus cases. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said the coronavirus count in the state is at its lowest point since mid-September. DHS yesterday reported an average weekly positive count of just under two-thousand cases. That’s roughly the same as it was back on September 25th. Community Shines Bright for Christmas Village

A lot of people dug deep for the Christmas Village this year. Chippewa Falls city officials say donations this year jumped 50-percent, that’s a record. There is no firm count on just how much was raised or how many visitors drove through Irvine Park because the Christmas Village is still open. Vaccines Lost After Human Error

Doctors at Aurora Health say human error is to blame for losing 500 doses of the coronavirus vaccine. The hospital yesterday said someone removed the vaccine from a refrigerator Saturday, and left it out overnight. There were 50 vials in the batch that was ruined, that means nearly 500 doses were lost. Aurora says they are disappointed and regret that it happened.

It was a record year for Candy Cane Lane. Organizers yesterday said they raised more than 200 thousand-dollars for Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer. WI Daily Coronavirus Cases Top 1,300

There are 13-hundred-and-35 new COVID-19 cases statewide.  The health department says since the beginning of this pandemic there have been over at 472-thousand confirmed coronavirus cases in Wisconsin.  There are 19 additional deaths reported today, bringing the death toll in Wisconsin to four-thousand-711.

Rapid Testing Not Slowing Down

The rapid COVID-19 testing will be available through the University of Wisconsin system until mid-January.  Originally the testing sites were closing in mid-December.  The sites administer rapid testing for the coronavirus which gives results in less than a half hour.  UW System President Tommy Thompson says the extension will ensure that anyone who wants to test can get a test.
