The Eau Claire fire department is responsible for a deer rescue over the weekend. The department posted photos of the deer safe on land after firefighters saved it from falling through the ice near Forest Street. The department says it took several staff members to make the rescue on the Chippewa River Saturday afternoon.

Man Facing Homicide Charges in Road Rage Shooting

A Cumberland man is facing formal first-degree homicide charges for what investigators are calling a road rage homicide shooting. The D.A. in Barron County last week filed the charges against Clayton Lauritsen. Police say he shot and killed 45-year-old Lauritz Robertson back on December 28th. No one is saying exactly what led to the shooting, but police are confident in calling it road rage.

Charges Against Pharmacist Could Shift

The case against the pharmacist accused of ruining hundreds of doses of the coronavirus vaccine may be changing. Kenosha Prepares

It is the latest sign that authorities are expecting trouble in Kenosha when the decision about charges in the Jacob Blake case comes. Governor Tony Evers yesterday called-up 500 Wisconsin National Guard troops to head to the city. Man Facing Charges for Hiding Teen

A Dunn County father is looking at felony charges after police say he hid his son’s teenage girlfriend from her mother. Prosecutors yesterday filed felony bail jumping and interfering with child custody charges against 49-year-old Tony Schilling. Prosecutors also say Schilling sent a text to the girl’s mother saying he’d killed her and left her body in the dump. There will be a vote on a coronavirus relief package at the Wisconsin Capitol, whether that package becomes law is another question entirely. WI Leaders Look to Reopen State Capitol

Republican leaders in Madison want the people’s house to be open to the people once again. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu yesterday agreed to a resolution that would reopen the state Capitol. Governor Evers ordered the Capitol closed because of the coronavirus. Visitors are not allowed-in, but people can go to the statehouse for hearings or other official business.

Former Badger Heading to Notre Dame

Jack Coan is looking to continue his college football career at Notre Dame. The former Badger quarterback yesterday said he is transferring to the school as a graduate student. Coan started 18 games for Wisconsin, but injured his foot this year and didn’t play a single down. Notre Dame is scheduled to play Wisconsin this year. That game is supposed to happen at Soldier Field in Chicago in September.
