Wisconsin’s troops are home from the nation’s capital. More than 550 National Guardsmen from across the state returned to Wisconsin yesterday. They spent last week in Washington, D.C. guarding the Capitol as part of Joe Biden’s inauguration. Commanders say there were no problems during the mission. The troops were originally supposed to be a support force but were called-in to protect the Capitol instead.

The last time the numbers were that low was back in mid-September. Wisconsin’s coronavirus numbers have steadily been falling since their peak back in November. Ch-Hi principal Donna Goodman says a lot of kids spent time yesterday reconnecting and hanging-out. Younger kids in Chippewa Falls have been learning in-person since the beginning of the month.

Open enrollment allows some students to move to other schools, as long as there’s room. The state’s Department of Public Instruction says parents can apply to change schools between February 1st and April 30th. The change would then start next year.

His family says he is not taking needed medication for serious mental health issues and they believe he could be in crisis. Marshfield police have posted a picture of Canon who could be traveling to Minnesota or the Dakotas where he does have family.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said today 14-year-old Barbara Hurley has died from injuries sustained in a house fire on Saturday. A man and 12-year-old boy were also killed in the blaze. A 15-year-old boy remains hospitalized in Madison in critical condition and two other adults were treated and released from the hospital.
