The next strategy for people opposed to Wisconsin’s wolf hunt is to go to Washington, D.C. Environmentalists and the state’s tribes are hoping that new Interior Secretary Deb Haaland will stop the hunt. Haaland is the first Native American interior secretary. Both environmentalists and the state’s tribes are unhappy with how many wolves were killed in Wisconsin during last month’s three-day hunting season.

A vehicle equipment violation leads to an arrest. 31 year old Quinnelius U. Neita, from Minneapolis, MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16. Second Round of Stimulus Checks Set for This Week

More stimulus checks are being doled out to Americans this week.  The second round of 14-hundred-dollar checks is expected to go out on Wednesday, if not sooner.  The Treasury Department says mailed paper checks could be coming if money does not appear in direct deposits and that could take a number of weeks.  The relief checks are part of the massive stimulus bill President Biden recently signed into law.

Man Picks Up 6th OWI

Wisconsin State Patrol says a 60-year-old is facing charges for hitting two cars and driving drunk on Interstate-94 over the weekend. State Patrol says Kena Gleason was pulled over and found to be nearly twice over the legal limit Saturday evening. Gleason is facing their sixth O-W-I offense, failure to have an ignition interlock device installed and driving with a revoked license.

Gas Prices Dip a Bit

Gas prices are down in Wisconsin for the first time in weeks. Gas-Buddy-dot-com reports a slight drop in the last week, down two cents. The cheapest price for a gallon of unleaded gas in the state today is two-dollars-and-44-cents. The most expensive in the state is 2.99.

Donation Makes Splash for World Water Day

A GoFundMe is set up to raise money for World Water Day in Madison. The fundraising site was set up by Clean Lakes Alliance, an organization promoting education about clean water to elementary school kids. They say an anonymous donor agreed to match donations up to 10-thousand-dollars. The campaign runs through April 22nd.
