Packers Push Hall of Fame Ceremony

The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame induction celebration is being rescheduled again.  The 50th Induction ceremony was moved from 2020 to April of this year because of COVID-19, but the ongoing pandemic is forcing another change.  The banquet is being postponed now until August.  A final date is being determined but the Hall of Fame induction will honor Al Harris, Charles Woodson and the late Zeke Bratkowski.

Challenging Door Co. Rescue for U.S. Coast Guard

The U.S. Coast Guard pulls off a challenging rescue in Door County.  Authorities say over 60 people were rescued from ice floes in three separate locations off of Sand Bay Beach, Little Harbor and Sherwood Point.  Cracks developed in the ice and separated the floes from the shoreline.  The emergency calls came in around 10:00 this morning and the Coast Guard spent the next three hours in rescue mode along with the Wisconsin DNR and local fire and EMS crews.

Absentee Ballots Look Ahead to April Primary

Absentee ballots for the April statewide primary election can be filled out in person in Eau Claire. In-person absentee drive through hours at City Hall began Tuesday at 10 a.m. The drive-through will be open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through February 12th.

Prosecutors Seek Arrest Warrant for Rittenhouse

Prosecutors in Wisconsin are seeking an arrest warrant for the now-18-year-old charged with shooting and killing two people during protests in Kenosha last August.  Yesterday, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office said a motion was filed for Kyle Rittenhouse to be detained for apparently violating his bond for not informing the court that he moved to a new address.  The office added that the move makes it difficult for officials to keep track of his location.  Rittenhouse was set free in November

Fall Creek Man Facing Charges

A 25-year-old Fall Creek man is accused of sexually abusing two children at his mother’s in-home daycare. Austin Thoren has been charged on several counts, including repeated sexual assault of a child. According to the investigation, the alleged crimes happened between 2012 and 2014.

Snow Plow Scam Buries Man in Fines

A man accused of running a snow plow scam in the Waukesha area has accepted a plea deal.  Matthew Erickson agreed yesterday to pay a 10-thousand-dollar fine and more than seven-thousand dollars in restitution in exchange for reduced felony charges.  Erickson and his company, “Snow Angels,” allegedly took advantage of over 100 people in nine states, including 28 in Wisconsin. Many of his victims were over 60-years old.

Division Three Winter Championships on Sidelines

Division Three is canceling its 2021 winter championships.  The NCAA announced this is due to low participation numbers among its member schools.  Fayneese Miller, the chair of the President’s Council, released a statement that reads in part, “This was a very difficult decision to make, and we were saddened to do so.  However, none of our winter sports meet the Championship Committee’s established thresholds of participation to hold a championship.”
