Free Rides on EC Buses

Due to the excessive heat expected to impact Eau Claire this weekend, the Transit department is waiving fare requirements for passengers on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Passengers will be able to use the air-conditioned buses instead of risking heat-related health conditions without concern of the cost. Passengers will still be required to wear a mask while on the bus and maintain properphysical distancing measures. Stolen Vehicle Leads Officers on Chase

It’s Hot “FUR” Pets Too

Investigation Continues into EC District Attorney

La Crosse Man Arrested, Claims He’s “Mentally Weird”

A La Crosse man who police say admitted to being ‘mentally weird’ is out of jail after being arrested for spying on his female neighbor. Police say 30-year-old Robert Kautzman drilled holes into the wall of his apartment to spy on his neighbor. She told police he broke into her house and stole her underwear. Prosecutors have charged Kautzman with felony burglary and misdemeanor peeping and invasion of privacy charges. He was released from jail on a signature bond.

A “Purrrrr”fect Time to Adopt

Some of the cats found abandoned in Dunn County are now ready for adoption. The Dunn County Humane Society yesterday launched a new Dr. Suess-themed adoption event to help get the cats new homes. There are 25 cats with Suess-themed names that are available for adoption. The Humane Society says the adoption fee has been knocked-down to 35 dollars. The adoption push will last all month.

MKE Church Not Participating in Investigation

The Catholic Church in Milwaukee is not going to be a part of Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul’s investigation into years-old sexual abuse claims. The Milwaukee Archdiocese yesterday said it will not turn over church documents or cooperate with investigators. The church’s lawyer says Kaul’s investigation ‘appears to be a product of anti-Catholic bigotry.’ Kaul announced his investigation into Catholic churches across the state in April. Catholic leaders said at the time that Kaul is only investigating them, and not other churches.
