WI Reports Cases of Delta Coronavirus Variant

After 35 cases of the Delta coronavirus variant were confirmed last week, only one case was reported this week.  The Department of Health Services says there are a total of 36 Delta variant cases statewide.  The Delta variant is a more contagious and in many cases acts as a more deadly version of the coronavirus. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.

Cashless Cream Puffs?

The 170th Wisconsin State Fair will open in West Allis on August 5th.   Officials today say the fair will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will close at 10 p.m. on the last day of the fair which is August 15th.  The fair is adopting a cashless model for parking and admission and people are urged to buy tickets in advance.  In keeping with safety measures,  vendors will not be offering reusable souvenir cups and the fair will

EC Health Dept. Seeks Info. After Dog Bite Incident

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is seeking assistance in locating a dog that bit a woman, Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, at approximately 2:40 p.m. The bite occurred on the north side of Birch Street (near the Sunoco gas station). In the spring, Daniel Nesja’s GOAT Milk? print advertisement won Best in Show in the student division of the Minnesota AdFed awards, sponsored by the Advertising Federation of Minnesota. Barron Co. Crash Under Investigation

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 12:09 p.m., the Barron County 911 center received a call of a two vehicle accident on Hwy 48 near 10th St, just east of Cumberland. Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Cumberland Police Department, Cumberland Ambulance, Mayo Ambulance, Cumberland Fire Department and Life Link Helicopter responded to the scene. Final Vaccine Clinic at UWEC Planned

The final COVID-19 vaccine clinic at UWEC Zorn Arena will be on Wednesday, June 30th from 3pm-7pm. Community vaccine clinics in July are moving to the Health Department and the UWEC Water Street Parking lot, which will be operated as a drive-through and walk-up clinic. From April 8 to June 23, more than 14,400 vaccine doses were given at Zorn Arena. This includes 634 dosesof Johnson & Johnson vaccine and 13,781 first and second doses of Pfizer vaccine. CLICK HERE

Million Dollar Splash at Fairfax Pool

The Fairfax Pool is getting million-dollar upgrades. The Eau Claire City Council approved the city’s Capital Improvement plan that includes infrastructure and land upgrades in the next five years. Nearly one-point-five-Million dollars is going into the pool’s upgrades. The city hopes to make it a year round recreation site.

No walleye until 2025 in Minocqua lakes. The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board approved the plan to extend the harvest ban in the chain of lakes to continue rehabilitating walleye populations. The D-N-R says fishers will only be able to catch one walleye per day beginning in April 2025.

Summerfest Getting 10 Million In Coronavirus Stimulus Money

Summerfest is getting 10-million-dollars for not having their shows last year. The money is coming from the Shuttered Venue Operators grant program, which is part of the national coronavirus stimulus relief package. The Rave and Eagles Ballroom will be getting nearly six-million-dollars from the same program. In all, theaters, festivals, and other live entertainment venues in Wisconsin will get over 35-million-dollars.

Bad Idea “Fore!” Thieves at Local Golf Course

The new owners of the Princeton Valley Golf Course say they chased a couple of would-be thieves out of their shop and through a neighborhood. Joshua Walberg and his fiancé, Ally Weyer, say someone tried to steal the golf course’s ATM by yanking it out of the lobby with a truck early yesterday morning.
