Governor Tony Evers joins other governors in support of a chemical cleanup effort.  Evers and the governors of New York, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Michigan signed a letter of support for the PFAS Action Act this week.  WMTV reported yesterday the measure passed the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this week and goes now to the Senate.  The PFAS Action Act calls for the federal government to intervene in favor of mitigation of PFAS chemicals leaked into the environment.  PFAS chemicals

A pilot is okay after the World War II era biplane he was flying hit a fence and landed upside down in Baraboo.  The Sauk County Sheriff’s office says late Thursday the 1941 Boeing Stearman PT-17 biplane’s landing gear clipped the top of a fence and came to rest upside down as the aircraft was attempting to land at Baraboo Wisconsin Dells Regional Airport in Delton.  The 67-year old pilot from Colorado was able to climb out of the cockpit with no

Fire crews in Edgerton rescue a cat stuck in a tree.  Edgerton first responders were called to the scene at a home on Broadway Street.  Ollie the cat’s owner, Caroline Wielgosz says Ollie got out and had been missing for three days when she spotted him up in the tree late Thursday.  Once firefighters successfully retrieved Ollie from the tree, Wielgosz posted her thanks on Facebook saying, “Thank you for getting my Ollie home, you all rock.”

A rollover crash claims the life of a teenager. It was on July 23rd at approximately 6:54 pm, the Buffalo County Communications Center received reports of a one-vehicle roll-over crash on STH 121 near Fisken Valley Rd in the Town of Dover. Upon arrival of emergency crews a 17yoa male was found to be partially ejected and pinned underneath a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban.  The air quality index for several lakeshore counties is in the Red Category today.  The Wisconsin DNR says Door County, Kewanee, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee and Racine counties all have unhealthy quality conditions.  Children and adults with respiratory or heart problems should avoid strenuous outdoor activities.  Several counties are in the Orange Category including Brown, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Oconto, Marinette, Walworth, Waukesha, and Washington.

Oneida Nation is celebrating the decision by the Cleveland Indians to change their nickname.  The major league baseball team announced today it will change the name to the Guardians effective at the end of the season.  Oneida Nation issued a statement saying it is a great but small victory to see the removal of derogatory mascots that exude racism and stereotypes.  Officials say there are still national sports teams they hope will follow suit and re-brand and change their image.

The average price for regular gas in Wisconsin is a couple of cents lower compared to a week ago.  Heading into the weekend, Triple-A says the price at the pump in the Badger State is three-dollars a gallon while the national average is three-15.  Drivers are paying over three-dollars-a-gallon in Wausau, Superior, La Crosse, Kenosha and St. Croix counties.  The average cost is two-99 in Janesville, Milwaukee and Racine, two-96 in Madison and two-94-a-gallon in Green Bay.

Team USA is ready to go as the Tokyo Olympics get off to their official start.  The athletes made their way into a mostly empty National Stadium during the Parade of Nations at this morning’s Opening Ceremony with First Lady Jill Biden leading the way.  Just like today’s ceremony had a different look and feel than in years past, so too will the rest of the Games.  Spectators are banned from attending events in person with the host city under
