New Report Outlines Voting Accessibility

Disabled voters in Wisconsin say some cities and counties make voting easy, but they say others need to do some work. The state’s Disability Vote Coalition yesterday said a new report into voting accessibility and poll access shows improvement. The group’s Barbara Beckert says curbside voting is particularly helpful, but there needs to be more audits at polling places to make sure disabled voters can get to the ballot box and cast their vote. Victim Identified, Manhunt Continues

The  Oneida County Sheriff’s Department is identifying the victim of a deadly shooting.  Authorities today say Hannah Miller of Rhinelander was shot to death on River Bend Road in the town of Pelican on Tuesday.  Police are still looking for the suspect identified as 30-year-old Christopher Anderson who goes by the nickname Bravo or DJ Bravo.  He may be driving a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport with Wisconsin license plates. New Waterpark Makes Splash in Marshfield

An opening date is set for a new water park in Marshfield.  The seven-million-dollar Vandehey Waters will open to the public Friday afternoon July 23rd.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in the morning.  The water park features a climbing wall, three slides, diving boards and basketball hoops.  Anyone who gets thirsty or hungry will find the park well equipped with concession stands.

Lone Star State Rescues Not Alone Anymore

The Dane County Humane Society is welcoming a hundred dogs and cats rescued from El Paso, Texas.  More than 350 animals were rescued with about a third of those being transported  to Wisconsin today.  Workers from other area shelters will be lending a hand examining the pets and making sure they are healthy and ready for adoption.  The transporting of over 300 animals is considered one of the largest efforts in pet rescue history.

The RCU Foundation’s Rock the Riverfront Classic Rock Hunt sponsored by Market & Johnson ended on the evening of Friday, June 25.  Wyatt Eiden and three friends from Chippewa Falls found the rock hiding along the Ice Age Trail near the Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area in New Auburn. COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Closed, Drive-Thru and Walk Up Shots Begin

A COVID vaccine clinic at Zorn Arena on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus is closed. The City-County Health Department says vaccines will be given at the Water Street parking lot and the health department beginning July 7th. The new location is a drive through and a walk-up clinic. County residents are being asked to take surveys to make improvements and help the board budget for next year. One survey is from the Eau Claire County Board of Supervisors asking residents to select what’s most important to them for the city to make financial decisions. An Altoona survey is asking residents how they’d like to improve walking and biking conditions on the City’s trails.

Investigation Continues in Deadly Clark Co. Plane Crash

 The search for a missing plane and pilot in Clark County is over. The sheriff yesterday asked farmers between Curtiss and New Richmond to help look for the plane. Deputies say they found the plane’s wreckage and the pilot yesterday afternoon not far from Curtiss. No one is saying just what caused the crash. Local and federal investigators are now looking into it.

Manhunt Continues in WI

There is a manhunt underway in the Northwoods. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says they are looking for a suspect in a deadly shooting that happened yesterday near the town of Pelican. Deputies found a woman shot to death along the side of the road. The sheriff says they are looking for 30-year-old Christopher Anderson. More pictures are online.
