State Employees Face COVID-19 Rules

All Wisconsin state employees must have a COVID-19 vaccination or comply with new testing requirements.  The new requirement will apply to anyone who hasn’t submitted proof of vaccination by October 18th.  State data shows 56 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties have very high rates of COVID-19 transmission.  Testing requirements will help officials manage the state workforce while navigating the surge in COVID cases because of the Delta variant.

Big Plans for Cty. Highway T

County Highway T between Eau Claire and Chippewa will see improvements by 2030.  The Chippewa County commissioner says there has been a big uptick in traffic meaning the highway needs more lanes. The project is estimated to cost 33-million-dollars.

Below is the press release from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office: On September 12, 2021 about 2:18PM the Dunn County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a death in Town of Sheridan in northern Dunn County. District Looks to Improve Grades

The plan is to cut D’s and F’s in Eau Claire schools by 20-percent this year. The city’s school board last night approved a plan to give schools some flexibility in helping students get back on track. A new report shows a lot more kids in Eau Claire failed classes last year. Campus Visit Urges Students to Vaccinate

UW-Eau Claire has about a month to get two-percent more students vaccinated against the coronavirus. UW President Tommy Thompson stopped by campus yesterday as part of his 70 For 70 push. The idea is that once 70-percent of students on a campus are vaccinated, that campus becomes eligible for some scholarship money. There are 70 scholarships across the UW System. UW-Eau Claire is currently at 68-percent vaccinated.

Ransomware Scams On Rise

Wisconsin’s attorney general is warning of an increase in ransomware scams. A-G Josh Kaul yesterday said the FBI has handled 41 complaints about ransomware in Wisconsin so far this year. Last year, the FBI handled 30 cases all year. Kaul says scammers are taking advantage of the fact that more people are doing more from home. He says beefing-up your internet and computer safety programs will go a long way toward keeping your information safe.

Political Lines Drawn in WI Map Redraw

Wisconsin’s governor is the latest to want to go to court over the state’s new political map. Governor Evers yesterday asked a federal judge to allow him to join one of the lawsuits filed over the state’s to-be-drawn map. Mask Debate Continues in WI Counties

Public health managers in Madison and Dane County are pushing back on the idea that county leaders and voters will have some say over the county’s mask mandate. Rebecca Kleefisch is making it known she’s the frontrunner in the Republican race for governor. Kleefisch’s campaign yesterday said she raised over one-million-dollars last week. She formally announced her bid to become governor last Thursday. Kleefisch has about one-and-a-half million-dollars on-hand. While that is a lot for one week, Democratic Governor Tony Evers has about seven-million-dollars in his campaign account. Lake Hallie Man Arrested After Reports of Gunshots

Reports of gunshots lead to an arrest. It was on Sunday, September 12th at about 4:48p.m., the Lake Hallie Police Department was called to Lake Hallie for a report of multiple gunshots in the area. It had been reported that approximately ten gunshots were heard throughout the area. Lake Hallie Police responded to the area to determine the origin of the gunshots.
