Add Menomonie schools to the list of local schools requiring masks for some students. The city’s school board last night voted to require masks for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Schools across the state that don’t require their kids to wear masks in the classroom could soon be facing a lawsuit. Kirk Bangstad, who ran for state Assembly and lost last year, is looking into suing schools that allow students to choose to wear masks. He says the suit falls under Wisconsin’s public nuisance laws. There’s a question as to whether school board members can speak at school board meetings in Wausau. The city’s school district said it wants to know if board members can use time during the public comment portion of school board meetings to speak. There is some worry it violates Wisconsin’s Open Meetings Act. The conversation comes as school board debate mask policies, and some of those conversations are heated.

Wisconsin is inching closer to a major coronavirus vaccination milestone. The state’s Department of Health Service yesterday reported that nearly 70-percent of adults have had one dose of the vaccine. The Republican running for governor in Wisconsin is back to running. Rebecca Kleefisch’s campaign yesterday said she is once again on the campaign trail. She canceled her in-person events last week after testing positive for the coronavirus. Kleefisch, who’s been vaccinated, said she felt fine but wanted to be extra-safe. Her first stop was in La Crosse County yesterday at a local health clinic.

The city of Green Bay is going to spend some of its coronavirus stimulus money to add free wifi to four city parks. The city council voted for the idea last night. It’s going to cost about 250-thousand-dollars to add internet at Seymour Park, Navarino Park, Eastman Park, and St. John Park. Alderman Randy Scannell says the wifi is needed at city parks at a time when more people need to be connected than ever before.

‘Twin Title Town’ is a little too close to Title Town for the Packers’ liking. The team has asked a court to block a California sports memorabilia company from using the phrase on its replica championship rings. Better Bobble Inc. has a design for rings that celebrate the Lakers’ and Dodgers’ championships that reads ‘Twin Title Town’ and has an outline of L.A.’s skyline. There’s still some counting to do, but it looks like the Eau Claire Marathon raised nearly 30-thousand-dollars for the community. Race director Emi Uelmen says they need to see what they owe for port-a-potties and police officers and the like, but she thinks the final tally will be around 30-grand. All of that money will be donated back to the community. Racers ran the marathon last weekend.

Thousands of Wisconsin tenants could face eviction by the end of this year.  The federal moratorium on evictions ends on Saturday and a survey by Quote Wizard by Lending Tree shows ten-percent of Wisconsinites are behind on their rent with 36-percent of those facing eviction.  Of those facing eviction across the country 27-percent are women and 22-percent are men.   One major problem is housing costs have risen nationwide by nearly 70-percent in the last ten years while income is up only 30-percent.
