WI Vaccines Hold Steady

Wisconsin is heading into the last week of the month averaging over 25 thousand coronavirus vaccinations per-week. The state’s Department of Health Services says the state’s coronavirus vaccine count is holding steady. In addition to the vaccines, DHS says doctors and nurses are averaging just over 17 thousand booster shots per week as well. Just over three-point-six million people in Wisconsin have gotten one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. A little over one-and-a-half million people have gotten a booster shot.

Vote For Your New Favorite

Time is running-out to vote for your favorite sculpture in downtown Eau Claire. Sculpture Tour Eau Claire organizers say the voting ends Saturday. The Tour’s Julie Pangallo says that means votes must be in by midnight on New Year’s Eve. You can find a sculpture ballot at a number of downtown shops or by going online WITH A CLICK HERE.

Madison’s Nutcracker Cancelled

The Madison Ballet’s Nutcracker run ended on a down note. The ballet canceled yesterday’s final performance because of coronavirus issues. No one is saying just what those issues are, or how many people may have tested positive for the virus. Anyone who had tickets will be able to get a refund.

Baraboo Fire Destroys Several Structures

Firefighters wage a battle with a large fire that destroyed several structures in Baraboo.  Flames broke out yesterday on property near County Highway U.  Crews battled flames on the ground undergrowth as well as in several structures including a trailer home and some sheds.  The Salvation Army is assisting those displaced by the fire.  There are no reports of injuries.

Rodgers a Record Holder

Aaron Rodgers sets a new team record for the number of completed touchdown passes in the Packers defeat of Cleveland.  Yesterday in the first quarter, Rodgers connected with Allen Lazard for Rodgers’ four-hundred-43rd career high number of passing touchdowns.  That number broke Brett Favre’s team record.  The Packers went on to win the Christmas Day game against the Browns by a score of 24-22 in Lambeau Field..

A.D. Not Making the Bowl Trip

UW-Madison’s Athletic Director isn’t going to the Badgers’ bowl match up against Arizona State because of COVID-19.  The news hit on Thursday in regard to AD Chris McIntosh’s diagnosis as testing positive for COVID-19.  A statement from the school Thursday afternoon says McIntosh wouldn’t be traveling with the team on Friday to Las Vegas.  The Las Vegas Bowl game against Arizona State is December 30.

I-94 Reopens After Massive Pile Up

I-94 is open after yesterday’s 50-car pile-up in which no one was killed or seriously hurt. The Highway Patrol says there were only minor injuries in the massive wreck near Black River Falls yesterday. Investigators are blaming icy roads for the chain-reaction-crash that closed I-94 for hours. At least one semi-truck and two cars burned in the crash. Crews were able to open a single lane on both sides of the interstate by about 8:30 last night.

Gavel Drops: Potter Found Guilty

Former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter has been found guilty of manslaughter for killing an unarmed man during a traffic stop back in April.  Potter appeared emotionless as the verdict was read yesterday afternoon. She always maintained she shot Daunte Wright by accident when he resisted arrest, mistaking her service weapon for her Taser.  She faces over 20 years behind bars.  She will remain in custody until she is sentenced in mid-February.  Following yesterday’s decision, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison
