Theft Report Leads to Chase, Arrests in Lake Hallie

What started at a report of theft at Walmart ends with arrests.

On January 23, 2022, at 3:32pm, a Lake Hallie Police Officer responded to a theft in progress at Walmart, 2786 Commercial Blvd, Lake Hallie. The Officer was advised that a red Dodge was fleeing the scene. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Commercial Blvd and the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crashed into the ditch on 114th Street and 16th Ave and the driver fled on foot.

Another Lake Hallie Police Officer and a Chippewa County Sheriff’s Deputy located the male, identified as 43 year old Shawn Banck from Chippewa Falls, and took him into custody. Officers recovered a pair of stolen tennis shoes, small amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle. Additionally, Banck was transported to the hospital for a suspected drug ingestion.

Officers learned Banck’s girlfriend, 33 year old Hope Jensen from Bloomer, was with him at Walmart and had an outstanding warrant out of Chippewa County.

Officers returned to the Walmart and placed Jensen under arrest for the outstanding warrant. Banck was arrested for Knowingly Fleeing an Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Retail Theft. Jensen was arrested for an outstanding warrant for Contempt of Court.
