Election Investigation Continues and Expands

The largest investigation into Wisconsin’s 2020 election is growing. Instead of ending his investigation, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman yesterday told lawmakers he is expanding it. Gableman told the Assembly’s Committee on Elections that he is now incorporating the findings from Racine County’s voter fraud into his investigation. The sheriff in Racine is asking for charges against five Wisconsin Elections Commission members for ordering nursing home workers across the state to fill-out ballots for elderly voters. Report Says Extended Benefits Slowed Return To Work

A new report says what many business groups in Wisconsin have been saying for months, extra unemployment benefits from Washington, D.C. kept some workers at home. The Badger Institute released a new report yesterday which says states that ended the enhanced unemployment benefits before July saw their unemployment rates fall faster than states, like Wisconsin, which kept the benefits flowing until September. Gunderson Health Enforces Vaccine Mandate

The vast majority of people who work at Gundersen Health in La Crosse got vaccinated and will keep their jobs. But the hospital yesterday said 30 employees have been shown the door for not getting vaccinated. Gundersen said the 30 are the only ones of their nine thousand employees to be fired for not getting their coronavirus shots. Another 92 people resigned. New Buildings Planned at Fairgrounds

Officials are raising money at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair to build some new buildings. Fair managers hope to raise just over five million-dollars to build a new two cattle barns, a small animal barn, a coliseum, and a FEMA approved safe room just in case there’s bad weather. The plan also calls for updated bathrooms. Fair director Rusty Volk says they’ve already found two million-dollars in funding, they’re hoping to find the rest by next spring.

CWD Confirmed in EC Co. Deer

There’s a warning about CWD in deer in Eau Claire County. The state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection this week said it confirmed a case in a deer taken from a local hunting ranch. In all 15 deer at the ranch have been placed into quarantine, as have deer at the farm in Waukesha County that raised them. Wisconsin is trying to keep CWD from spreading to its wild deer population.

Rittenhouse Trial Continues

The Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial is adjourned after a blockbuster day of testimony, including the defense asking for a mistrial.  Earlier, the judge yelled at the prosecution for alluding to a cellphone video of Rittenhouse taken well before the shooting that was ruled not to be allowed in court.  The judge said he would take it under advisement.  Rittenhouse is back on the stand being grilled by the prosecution.  The 18-year-old is accused of opening fire on protesters during civil

Search Continues for Escapee

Authorities in Milwaukee County continue to look for a man who escaped custody at Milwaukee Mitchell Airport.  Authorities say Robert Johnson Junior of Rockford, Illinois was being transported by a private correctional contractor yesterday from Laredo, Texas to Rock County when he was able to escape.  The Milwaukee County Sheriff has issued photo of Johnson who was last seen wearing a single handcuff, a black jacket, white shirt and ripped blue pants.

MKE Plans Boost For Snowplow Pay

A shortage of drivers with commercial licenses is prompting the City of Milwaukee to boost wages for snowplow drivers.  The Department of Public Works said today the city continues to face a shortage of drivers as do communities across the country.  The minimum hourly wage for drivers who are residents is going up to just under 23-dollars.  Non-residents of the city will have their hourly rate wage raised to just over 22-dollars.

UW Health to Host Career

UW Health is hosting a career hiring event.  The health system is looking to hire environmental and food service personnel.  UW is offering a 15-dollar an hour minimum wage with benefits including health insurance and vacation.  The hiring event is this Tuesday, November 16th at the Best Western Inn on University Avenue from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
