Players Sign on the Dotted Line

The next crop of Badger football players have signed on the dotted line. The University of Wisconsin added 14 scholarship players and seven walk-ons during yesterday’s early signing day. Ten of the players are from Wisconsin. Wisconsin is projected to have the 43rd best recruiting class in the country this year.

Weather Warnings for Western WI

All of Wisconsin is under a high wind warning, with gusts expected late Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. The National Weather Service is expecting those gusts to exceed 65 mph in some areas. There is also a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms, with isolated tornadoes possible. New Maps Submitted to WI High Court

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is considering new legislative maps submitted by Governor Tony Evers.  The governor today said the maps he’s submitting are an improvement from the current gerrymandered maps and the Republican map which he vetoed last month.  The court has mandated the governor and legislative Republicans submit legislative maps that offer the least change.  The governor says just over 14-percent of Wisconsinites will move to a new Assembly District under his map guidelines.

Millions Raised “Fore!” Charity

American Family Insurance says two-point-three-million-dollars was raised for charity by the PGA Tour Champions Championship in Madison.  American Family announced today American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison will receive about half of the money and 124 local charities will share the other one-point-three-million-dollars.

Washington DC Lands in WI

President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will be in southern Wisconsin this afternoon.  They’ll meet with health care workers in Milwaukee and the victims of the Waukesha parade tragedy.  The White House says they’ll arrive at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee around 3:15.

WI Basketball Player Raises Money for KY Hometown

A Wisconsin basketball player from Kentucky raises over 80-thousand dollars for tornado victims.  Chris Vogt is from Mayfield, Kentucky and started a GoFundMe over the weekend to support the victims of the storm.  The original goal was to raise 50-thousand dollars, which has been met.  Now the goal is to raise 100-thousand dollars.

WI On Christmas “Nice List”

Madison is being named one of the top U.S. cities to celebrate Christmas.  That’s according to WalletHub, which ranks Madison the 45th best city for Christmas.  WalletHub says Madison has some of the most generous people, ranking 12th.  Milwaukee almost makes the list at 35th.  The top U.S. city for Christmas is Atlanta, Georgia.

Gavel Drops: Former School Employee Sentenced

It’s 10 days in jail for a former Regis school employee who stole 20-thousand-dollars. A judge yesterday sentenced Wendy Cronin to a combination of jail time and probation for taking the money from the school starting in 2019. Cronin was an accounting assistant at Regis. If she pays the 20-thousand-dollars back, her plea deal allows for her most serious charge to be erased from her record. The judge says she has until 2026 to repay the money.

More Children Head Home in Waukesha

There is now just one child in the hospital following Waukesha’s Christmas Parade tragedy. Doctors at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee yesterday said two more children have gone home. They continue to face a long road to recovery, but they will do that at home. In all, 16 kids were rushed to the hospital after police say Darrell Brooks Junior plowed through the parade crowd late last month. One of those children, and five adults in the parade died.

Gov. Evers Announces Workforce Investment; WI Manufactures & Commerce Speaks Out

Governor Tony Evers latest workforce development program means 20-million-dollars for Eau Claire. The governor was in town yesterday to announce the grants. UW-Eau Claire is in-line for a little over nine million-dollars for nurse training. The Chippewa Valley Technical College is getting 10 million-dollars to focus on metal fabrication. Both schools say they are happy to get the money. The governor says the grants should help get people to work in the region and across the state. But not everyone
