Steven John Zachman, 45 years of age, from Colfax has been arrested by the Wisconsin StatePatrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 6th offense. A champion midget car race driver is posthumously honored in Sun Prairie.  Yesterday Kevin Olson’s life and accomplishments were celebrated at his home track of Angell Park Speedway.  During his career Olson won the U.S. Auto Club National Midget Championship twice and the Badger Midget Racing Association’s championship five-times.  Olson died from injuries he suffered in a roadway wreck in early February.

Workers at Oshkosh Corporation want to build the next generation USPS mail delivery vehicle.  A workers’ rally was held yesterday calling on the defense contractor’s management not to move the project to a South Carolina site.  Local 578 Union President Bob Lynk says the company is still the town’s largest employer despite seeing the number of workers drop to 16-hundred from 31-hundred ten years ago.  For now, a company statement says the USPS next generation delivery vehicle project will have

A crash leaves one dead and two injured. It was at 6:20 PM on Saturday February 26, 2022 when a crash occurred on US 2 EB/WB at West of Birch Hill Road in ASHLAND County near ASHLAND. Authorities report that a 2014 black Dodge Dart entered STH 2 from a residential driveway west of Birch Hill Road. This put the Dart in the path of a westbound 2018 white Chevrolet Equinox. The search is on for a missing UW-La Crosse senior.  Hamud Faal’s roommates say he didn’t come home after going out last Saturday night.  They reported him missing.  The 25-year old Psych student from Sun Prairie was last seen walking along Front Street around 3:30-a.m. last Sunday.  Dozens of volunteers plan to gather today at Riverside Park around noon to search for Faal.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections says inmates can soon receive visitors again.  Inmate visitation was stopped at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, was reinstated last year in July but was stopped again in December with the advent of the Omicron variant.  Yesterday Corrections Department chief Kevin Carr says as of March 1st in person visitation is again being restored.
