Just about everyone should have their lights back on after western Wisconsin’s stormy weekend. Xcel Energy crews say a couple of hundred people didn’t have power yesterday after storms swept across the area. WI Lawmakers Come Together For Wolf Hunt

Wisconsin’s two U.S. Senators want to end protections for gray wolves. Both Republican Ron Johnson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin last week introduced a plan to delist the wolves. It comes after a federal judge in California issued new protections for wolves in Wisconsin and most of the rest of the country. That decision ended Wisconsin’s wolf hunt for the foreseeable future. Get the Doggy Bag: New Law Aims to Keep Furry Friends Close

You could soon see dogs at more restaurants in Wisconsin. Governor Tony Evers on Friday signed a new law that allows the state to write new rules for more pet-friendly businesses. The law specifically states that businesses cannot ban dogs from places that sell pre-packaged food only. The new law is one of 15 that the governor signed last week.

Lawmakers Look to Land Map in Front of US Supreme Court

Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin are looking to challenge the state’s new political map in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. Republicans filed their challenge to the map on Friday, just one day after the Wisconsin Supreme Court decided to go with a map drawn by Gov. Tony Evers. Conservative justices on the Wisconsin Supreme Court say the map segregates voters by race, which is not allowed under the federal Voting Rights Act. Coronavirus Cases, Hospitalizations Fall

Wisconsin could have 400 people hospitalized with the coronavirus by the end of the day. The state’s Hospital Association on Friday said 443 people were hospitalized with the virus across the state, including 77 in the ICU. Wisconsin’s hospitalization numbers have plummeted since their peak in early January. Fireworks Look to Make a Bang

It looks like there will be fireworks along the lakefront in Milwaukee this year. Milwaukee County’s parks director says he is optimistic that the show will go on on July 3rd. There are some unanswered questions about a sponsor for the event and whether the county can hire enough people to pull-off the fireworks show. WI Rally Supports Ukraine

Hundreds of pro-Ukraine demonstrators stage a rally at the state capitol.  The rally on the capitol steps yesterday was speckled throughout with Ukraine’s blue and yellow colors and flags.  Supporters of the Ukrainian people called for an end to Russia’s invasion of her neighbor.  The invasion of southeastern Ukraine by Russian forces started February 24th and has since begun to spread to other areas inside the Ukraine.

UW Looks to Attract Education Majors

The University of Wisconsin-Madison extends an incentive program intended to attract Education majors.  Yesterday, School of Education Dean Diana Hess said the UW-Madison Wisconsin Teacher Pledge is being extended another year.  The program covers the cost of in-state tuition and fees including those for testing and licensing for those students studying to become teachers.  To qualify, the student must work three or four years as a teacher in a Wisconsin school.  Details about the program are online WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.

Gas Prices on Rise, Madison Tips Over 3.70 a Gallon

Madison’s gasoline prices are on the rise.  GasBuddy-dot-Com said as of yesterday, the price per gallon has taken a 45-cent leap compared to last week.  The report says in the Madison area the average is now three-72 a gallon.
