MKE Hits Drug Overdose Record

 Add this to the records broken in 2021 in Milwaukee. The county’s medical examiner yesterday said the county set a record for drug overdose deaths. The M.E.’s office says 560 people died from a confirmed drug overdose last year, that’s more than the 545 people who OD’d in 2020. But that number could go-up. Chippewa Co. Crash Injures Two

A crash in Wheaton affected traffic flow for a couple of hours. It was just after 6:30 on Monday morning, January 10th the Sheriff’s office received a report of a two- vehicle crash with injuries and road blockage. A straight truck was eastbound on STH 29, a northbound Dodge Ram 2500 failed to stop for the stop sign on 20th Street at STH 29. The Dodge Ram collided with the side of the straight truck causing damage to both vehicles.

Traffic Stop Leads to 4th Arrest in Northwoods Burglaries

On January 07, 2022 at 7:20 PM, Sawyer County Deputies arrested a fourth person involved in the burglaries and thefts that occurred in the Hayward area over the last several months. Deputies arrested Trevor James Wilson, 31, of Hayward during a traffic stop. Wilson was arrested for Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and is currently being held in the Sawyer County Jail on aDepartment of Corrections Warrant. Gableman Subpoenas Being Allowed To Stand

 Subpoenas to Wisconsin election leaders submitted by former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman are being allowed stand.  Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul tried to block the subpoenas, but Dane County Circuit Judge Rhonda Lanford ruled in favor of Gableman this morning.  Gableman is leading an investigation into the 2020 election.  He will now have the opportunity to interview election leaders in-person.

ER Not For Coronavirus Tests

Wisconsin residents are being asked not to go to the emergency room to get a coronavirus test.  The Wisconsin Hospital Association issued a release this morning saying people looking for coronavirus tests at emergency rooms are delaying urgent care for coronavirus patients.  The association also says people are increasing the possibility of virus spread throughout hospitals.  People needing a coronavirus test are asked to contact their primary care physician, get tested at a community testing clinic, or get a home testing kit from

The Flying Eagles Ski Club will host their 136th Silver Mine Ski Invitational on January 14 and 15, 2022 at Silver Mine Hill. Flying Eagles Ski Club is the oldest continuous ski jumping club in the United States and has been hosting Silver Mine since 1969. State-Of-The-Art Digital Process Lab Comes to UW STOUT

School of Art and Design students have a new hub at University of Wisconsin-Stout — the expanded, upgraded Digital Process Lab in the Applied Arts Building. Beef Stick Recall

Nearly 15-thousand pounds of beef sticks are being recalled.  The sticks sold as “Iowa Smokehouse Original Smoked beef Sticks” were sold at Walmart and other retailers nationwide.  An announcement from the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says the product made by Wisconsin-based Abbyland Foods Inc. was mislabeled, failing to declare milk on its product label.  The beef sticks were produced between November 15th and 17th and were packaged in two-pound, clear plastic bags.  The recall comes on the heels of another beef recall late last week, as

Dozens Rescued From Ice in Green Bay

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says they rescued about 30 fishermen from a runaway chunk of ice in the bay of Green Bay Saturday morning. No one was hurt, but rescuers say the chunk of ice was starting to break apart as they were pulling people off of it. Eventually, deputies say, the piece of ice ended-up a mile off shore. Crews in Brown County called-out the Department of Natural Resources and the Coast Guard to help with the rescue.
