WI Homes Increase in Value

Wisconsin home values are increasing at the fastest rate in decades.  The Wisconsin Policy Forum says real estate sales revenue went up nearly 36-million dollars from the 2020 fiscal year to the 2021 fiscal year.  That’s an increase of 37-percent.  The Wisconsin Police Forum says the increase has been driven by healthy real estate sales numbers and high residential property values.

Bucks Announcer to Make History

The Milwaukee Bucks are celebrating Women’s History Month by making their own history with broadcasts of their games.  Tonight, the first female public address announcer in Bucks’ history — Bonnie Oleson — will take the microphone when Milwaukee hosts the Wizards at Fiserv Forum.  Oleson is the PA announcer for the University of Wisconsin-Madison women’s volleyball, softball and basketball teams.  Last September, the team hired their first full-time female play-by-play announcer — Lisa Byington.

Stolen Vehicle, High Speeds and Wrong Way Lead to Arrest

An Eau Claire man is in custody after an incident in which he allegedly drove a stolen car at high speeds the wrong way on an interstate.  Police say the man — identified as John Martin — was spotted inside a stolen car in a motel parking lot.  Police tried to arrest him and when he resisted, they used a Taser on him — but with no effect.  He also allegedly slammed a door on an officer’s arm.  Officers followed

AMBER Alert Cancelled, Infant Found Safe

Milwaukee Police say charges are pending against several suspects involved in the case of a three-month-old child who had been the subject of an AMBER Alert yesterday.  The infant – identified as Anthony Crudup Junior — was reported missing early yesterday morning from a home near 42nd and Marion.  The boy’s mother told police she had let several people spend the night at the home and when she awoke, they were gone along with her child.  Police found the infant

EC Transit Project Rolls Forward, Funding in Overdrive

The city of Eau Claire is committing more money to the downtown transit transfer center project, as costs for the project have jumped since the pandemic began.  The Federal Transit Administration and the American Rescue Plan Act have provided more than nine-million dollars for the project.  The city is now adding another 20 percent from other recovery funds to bring the total budget outlay to 11-million dollars.  City officials say they hope to have the new facility completed sometime this

WI Coronavirus Cases Fall Off

Though another variant may yet spread across the country, COVID-19 levels are showing signs of falling in Wisconsin.  State health officials say Wisconsin fell a level yesterday in terms of its case burden, as numbers fell to the moderately high levels of the virus.  The state’s seven-day rolling average for new cases is leveling and dropped to 326 yesterday. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.

U.S. Supreme Court Throws Out WI Legislative Maps

The U.S. Supreme Court is throwing out Wisconsin’s redrawn legislative maps.  The ruling means the Wisconsin Supreme Court will have to take another look at a case deciding where state Senate and Assembly district lines should be drawn before this fall’s election.  The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling also comes just before candidates take out papers to gather signatures to get on the ballot.  Candidates can’t file that paperwork without knowing the boundaries of their districts.  The order doesn’t change U-S House districts set

New Law Makes Threatening WI Health Care Workers a Felony

It’s now illegal to make threats against health care workers in Wisconsin.  Today Governor Tony Evers signed a bill making it a Class H felony to assault or threaten health care workers or their family members.  Class H felonies are punishable by up to six years in prison.
