Milwaukee Addresses Crime in City

Homicides in Milwaukee are up nearly 40 percent from this point last year, but the city is seeing fewer stolen cars and burglaries.

Mayor Cavelier Johnson yesterday tried to put the best face on the city’s crime states for the first half of 2022. Johnson said he is encouraged by an overall drop in crime. That drop comes, however, as Milwaukee is looking at another record year for shootings and homicides. Through the end of June, Milwaukee Police say 112 people have been killed in the city. That doesn’t include the people killed over the Fourth of July weekend.
