Looking for fun after school activities next week? Pinehurst Warming Shelter will be exclusively openDecember 19 – 23 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm each evening. Board Games, Gear Share, and Sledding will allbe available for use. At this time, the City of Eau Claire Ice Rinks will open as planned on December 26. Former Deputy Pleads Guilty

A former Dane County sheriff’s deputy accused of lying about a shooting she was involved in in Cross Plains pleads guilty.  Today Sara Bortz-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an officer and was referred to the deferred prosecution program.  Bortz-Rodriguez said she shot her gun at a suspect in Festge Park last October after being stabbed, but an investigation found she lied about what happened.  She was fired the next month.

Gas Prices Dip

Wisconsin gas prices continue to drop as we head into the weekend.  Triple-A says the statewide average is two dollars and 79 cents a gallon, down 12 cents from last Friday.  In Madison the average is two-82 a gallon, down 13 cents from last Friday.  Some of the cheapest gas in the state is in Appleton where the average is two-60 a gallon.

Neillsville Woman Picks Up 2nd OWI

Destinee R Link , 35 years of age, from Neillsville, Wisconsin has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 2nd offense, with two children in the vehicle under the age of 16. Miss Wisconsin , Grace Stanke, is now Miss  America.  Stanke is a native of Wausau and attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  The 20-year-old plays the violin and performed for the judges last night in the talent competition.  She made history as the first nuclear engineering student to compete in the  Miss America pageant.

Public Works Employee Connected To Rescue

The Milwaukee Public Works employee who was killed in a fiery crash on Mayfair Road this week was hailed as a hero in another crash three years ago.  Authorities confirmed 64-year-old Denise Durrah was driving the city truck that caused the crash.  Two other people — 85-year-old Paul Woida and 40-year-old Amy Miller — were also killed in the crash.  Three years ago, Durrah rescued two strangers — a driver and her infant — who were in another accident.  Durrah

Taylor Co. Man Adds 5th OWI

A Taylor man has been arrested in Jackson County for drunk driving for the fifth time. Police say 37-year-old Jason Twieg was clocked at over 100 miles an hour around midnight Monday. Twieg failed his field sobriety test.
