Tank Explosions Under Investigation

 We are waiting for more information about a propane tank explosion in New Berlin. It happened about 7 a.m. yesterday morning along Moorland Road, near Coffee. Police originally got a call about a car fire. When they arrived they found a trailer carrying propane tanks on fire. There were at least five explosions. No one was hurt in either the fire or the explosions.

Murphy Nears Packers End Zone

The clock is ticking for Mark Murphy. The Packers’ president and CEO said in his monthly column last week that he intends to retire in 2025, when he turns 70. The Packers have a mandatory board retirement age of 70-years-old, and Murphy says he is a member of the board. There is no word about a future replacement, or when the search will begin.

Lawmakers Battle Over Pregnancy Resource Funding

Governor Tony Evers won’t authorize funding for pregnancy crisis centers.  On June 29th, state Republican lawmakers sent a letter to the Governor calling for ten million dollars from Wisconsin’s portion of the federal government’s American Rescue Plan Act to go toward supporting crisis pregnancy counseling centers.  The centers typically try to find alternatives to abortion for pregnant women in crisis.  In response, Governor Evers says he won’t allow it because the pregnancy crisis centers don’t have doctors or nurses to provide

Barron Co. Sheriff’s Office to Handle Burnett Co. Shooting Incident

 A suspect is in the hospital after getting shot by a Burnett County Sheriff’s deputy.  The incident happened yesterday afternoon when an armed man at the Fishbowl Bar in Danbury allegedly made threats and pointed a gun at responding deputies who shot him.  There is no word on his condition.  The investigation was assigned to the neighboring Barron County Sheriff’s Office.

Voter Mailer Headed To Wisconsinites

A voter eligibility mailer is going out to thousands of Wisconsinites next week. The Wisconsin Elections Commission is sending postcards to a hundred-78-thousand-five-hundred residents who are eligible to vote who have yet to register.  The postcards provide guidance on how an eligible person can register online at MyVote-dot-WI-dot-Gov.  Meagan Wolfe with the state elections office says the postcards will have an “official election mail seal” so people can know the source and that the mailer is trustworthy.

Monkeypox Confirmed in WI

The first case of monkeypox in Wisconsin is now confirmed.  Yesterday, state health officials said the case in a person living in Dane County who is self isolating.  Chief Medical Officer Doctor Ryan Westergaard says the virus spreads through contact with objects contaminated with the virus and from skin to skin contact or bodily respiratory fluid contact with another person such as getting coughed on by someone who has the virus.  Find out more WITH A CLICK HERE TO WI DHS.

Hy-Vee Voluntarily Recalls Potato Salad

Hy-Vee grocery stores are recalling some potato salads due to possible microbial contamination.  Yesterday, the Iowa based chain issued the voluntary recall of Hy-Vee and Mealtime branded potato salad products.  The products were distributed to stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The statement says preliminary tests showed microbial presence in the production line that processes the potatoes.   Final test results on just what is the microbe that was detected are due back within the next

Kohl’s Sale Called Off

 Wisconsin based Kohl’s is calling off its sale agreement with Franchise Group.  The chairman of the board at Kohl’s made that announcement this morning, saying the company canceled the sale because of market volatility.  Franchise Group offered Kohl’s 60 dollars a share for the company earlier this year.
