Folks could be zooming on the snowmobile trails in Chippewa County in a matter of days. Volunteers with the Bloomer Snowhawks Club say they’ve spent weeks clearing the trails in the county, and hope to open this weekend. Changes At Top of DNR

There’s a change at the top of the Department of Natural Resource’s board. Fred Prehn, who was nominated by former Governor Walker, has stepped down. Prehn fought to stay on the board, saying Governor Evers never officially replaced him. But last week, Prehn said it was time to allow the State Senate to vote on his replacement. Audit Shows UW Budgeted For Stimulus Spending

 A new audit says the University of Wisconsin spent almost all of its 563 million in coronavirus stimulus aid properly. The report from the Legislative Audit bureau found just 239 thousand-dollars was spent on ‘unallowable expenses.’ Lawmakers say there’s room for improvement at the university, but they say overall the audit shows the university did a good job in spending its stimulus haul.  Forecasters are warning of dangerous wind chill in southern Wisconsin.  Wind chill temperatures could drop to 25 degrees-below-zero this morning.  The winds should ease up later in the day, and some snow is expected tonight.  Temperatures are expected to warm up back into the 40s by Thursday, and Madison should start off the new year with mild temperatures. A winter storm warning for the state remains in effect until tomorrow morning.  Today’s wind chill was expected to fall to as low as between 25- and 35-below in some parts of the state.  Temperatures are expected to gradually go back up as wind speeds come down through the weekend.  Single digit temperatures are expected on Monday. Formal Charges Filed in Death of MKE Girl

There are now formal charges against the caregivers of a four-year-old Milwaukee girl. Prosecutors in Milwaukee filed the charges on Wednesday. Police say four-year-old Kaliyah King Mage died at a local hospital last Friday. She was unconscious and not breathing. Three adults are facing a number of charges including neglect. The three originally told police Mage was hit by a car, but that story later changed after investigators confronted the three with more evidence.
