Wisconsin Republicans don’t want to raise the state’s gas tax, but they have no problem raising fees on cars in the state.
The legislature’s budget writing panel, the Joint Finance Committee, last night approved a nearly 440-million-dollar proposal to build and repair roads across the state.
Their plan will raise title fees to 95 dollars, raise the state’s license plate fee to 85 dollars (which could vary from county to county depending on additional local fees), and imposes a new hybrid vehicle fee of 75 dollars. Governor Evers wanted to spend nearly 625-million-dollars on roads, it’s not clear what he will do to the Republican proposal.
