New ATV, UTV Laws Take Effect in WI News | June 1, 2026 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy A new state law requiring UTV users to wear seat belts takes effect today. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says officials took these steps to reduce fatalities for operators and riders of the vehicles. Any driver or passenger on a UTV not buckled in can face a fine of nearly 300 dollars. Other rules taking effect today also require operators and riders to use eye protection if the vehicle does not have a windshield and they prohibit towing of an object with a person on it on any trail or route.
