A change of attitude in Illinois could help keep Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan waters much safer.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker yesterday said he will support a plan to build an electric barrier in the Illinois River to keep Asian carp out of Lake Michigan. Illinois’ last governor balked at the idea because it would cost the state nearly 100-million-dollars. Leaders in most Great Lakes states fear that if the carp make it to Lake Michigan, there’s nothing to stop them from spreading to the other lakes.
