Madison Police Adapting Policy Protecting Underage Drinkers Who Call For Medical Help

The Madison Police Department is adapting a policy that will protect underage drinkers from citations if they call for help during a medical emergency.

The department says the immunity will apply to both the person who needs medical help and the person who calls for help, as long as they cooperate with responders. If any of the underage drinkers are under the age of 18, a parent will be notified. The Amnesty Through Responsible Action program will be effective starting tomorrow.
