The Eau Claire Communications Center has received several reports of a scam call circulating this morning. Citizens report that someone claiming to be a detective is calling, telling them they have unresolved legal matters. This scammer will then try to get information or even funds from them.
The Eau Claire Police Department and Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office will never ask for payment over the phone. If you ever question a call, just hang up and contact your local authorities directly through their non-emergency number.
