This time of year can be busy and your days can be full, so we just want to say thanks for making us part of it.

We know time goes fast, but does it somehow seem like it’s faster all the time?! Yeah, we get it.

Shall we try to slow down for at least a little bit?

That’s what we set aside Saturday mornings for. A small, but intentional, slow down to start your day. A look back at events that happened on these days in history before we head out to make new history today.

On this day:

In 1845, Texas became the 28th state of the Union.

In 1848, President James Polk turned on the first gas light at the White House.

In 1851, the first Young Men’s Christian Association, or Y.M.C.A., was organized in Boston.

In 1952, the first transistorized hearing aid was offered for sale by Sonotone Corporation.

In 1967, orchestra leader Paul Whiteman died. He was known as the “King of Jazz.”

In 1972, the last weekly issue of “Life” magazine hit newsstands.

In 1975, a terrorist bomb at LaGuardia Airport in New York City killed 11 and injured 75.

In 1993, singer Courtney Love sued her doctors after news of her methadone treatment is leaked.
