The following is a release from authorities in Sawyer County as they continue to investigate a series of fires in the area:
On November 23, 2024 at 04:54 am, the Sawyer County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a fire at the DJ’s Mart gas station located on State Highway 27/70 in the Village of Radisson. Sawyer County Deputies assisted by the Lac Courte Oreilles Police Department, Radisson, Winter, Exeland and Couderay Fire Departments responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, smoke and flames were observed coming out of the eves on the west side of the building. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze but not before it caused extensive damage to the structure. The gas station was unoccupied at the time of the fire due to the time being outside of regular business hours.
The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation is currently investigating this fire and a series of other structure fires that have occurred in the area in the past week. We are once again asking for the publics assistance.
