The Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation announced a significant addition to Longfellow Elementary School. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official unveiling of brand-new playground equipment, generously funded in large part by American Phoenix as well as proceeds from the Jeanne Richie Memorial Puddle Jump.
This event will start at 4:00pm on September 25 th with an ice cream social for Longfellow families. The new playground equipment replaces an aging playground that was unsafe and often unrepairable as replacement parts were no longer available. American Phoenix is a neighbor to Longfellow School. Many of their employees’ children attend the school and the donation invests in the upgrades for kids and community.
The playground becomes “the park” to the neighborhood during non-school hours. Families and children frequently can be seen using the playground after school and on the weekends. This provides the entire neighborhood with a safe place for families to play and enjoy the out of doors.
