The 16-year-old inmate at Lincoln Hills who is accused of killing a teacher there is now looking at formal charges.
Prosecutors in Lincoln County yesterday filed second-degree reckless homicide against Javarius Hurd. He’s accused of beating a female staffer at the Lincoln Hills facility, then attacking and ultimately killing a teacher who tried to stop him. Hurd is being charged as an adult in the case.
Lawmakers and Governor Evers yesterday all said how shocked and saddened they are that the teacher, 49-year-old Corey Proulx, died. One lawmaker says he intends to hold hearings into the attack, and says he wants answers from the state’s Department of Corrections.
