The driver of the vehicle is identified as 33yr old Michael Rusch, of Augusta. The passenger of the vehicle is identified as 4yr old Evangeline Rusch, of Altoona. The investigation revealed that Michael had been traveling on County Road D near S 140 th Ave at an extremely high rate of speed in a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette with Evangeline in a child safety seat in the passenger seat. Michael lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve in the roadway and entered the ditch. The vehicle rolled and struck a series of trees. Both occupants passed away as a result of the crash. After the crash, the Sheriff’s Office received information from a witness that this vehicle had passed them minutes earlier on HWY 12 at what the witness described as around 100mph.
Aspects of the crash are still under investigation and no additional information will be released. Our
thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Evangeline during this very difficult time.

ORIGINAL STORY:
On December 1, 2023, at 11:24 AM the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a one vehicle crash/rollover near E14510 County Road D, Fall Creek.
Upon arrival two people were found inside the vehicle which was on its roof. The occupants were pronounced deceased by the medical examiners. The names have not been released at this time.
