Lawmakers at the Wisconsin Capitol are turning their focus to truancy.
The Speaker’s Task Force On Truancy will hold a meeting later this morning. Two managers from Milwaukee Public Schools have been invited to speak to lawmakers about the problems of keeping kids in school. MPS’s manager of school social work and community services will be the first to testify. Lawmakers say they’re looking to see if there is anything the state can do to help keep kids in school, and help get more kids to graduate on time.
