No additional charges are going to be filed against the suspect accused of kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs for now.
Douglas County District Attorney Mark Fruehauf says the decision stems from the “existence of other charges and victim-related concerns.” However, that doesn’t mean additional charges won’t be filed in the future. Fruehauf said Douglas County can charge 21-year-old Jake Patterson for any crime he has committed at any time within the statute of limitations of that crime.
Patterson is accused of kidnapping Closs and holding her captive for 88 days after murdering her parents back in October. He’s charged with two counts of first-degree homicide, armed burglary and kidnapping.
