The idea of a flat tax for Wisconsin is all but dead.
The Republicans who will write Wisconsin’s new state budget say it’s unlikely they will push for a flat tax this year. State Rep. Mark Born and state Senator Howard Marklein yesterday it’s still their goal to get Wisconsin to a flat three-and-a-quarter percent income tax, but they say Governor Evers has made it clear he will veto the proposal. Born says there will be a tax cut in the new state budget, but he didn’t say how large it will be.
