LOCAL KNITTER HAS NEW BABIES COVERED

An Eau Claire woman is a busy knitter, stitching nearly 600 hats for newborns this year.  Volunteer Janice Ray says it takes her about three hours to knit a baby hat.  She has logged about three-thousand hours knitting this year.  Ray began her efforts in 2011 when she was recruited at church by a volunteer knitting coordinator at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Though she has never seen a newborn in one of her hats, a doctor at the hospital says her hats are in an awful lot of baby books.
