Tommy Thompson is leaving the University of Wisconsin to a chorus of praise.
Thompson on Friday announced that he is leaving as interim president in March. Lawmakers, university leaders, and a host of UW graduates all wished Thompson well and said he helped save the university during one of its most trying times. Thompson’s decision also raises questions about whether the university has a new president in mind. So far, the university has not said anything.
