Milwaukee is starting 2022 where it left-off in 2021.
Police say 12 people were shot on either New Year’s Day or yesterday, two of them died. One died during an argument at about 1:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day. The other death was a 16-year-old girl who was shot and killed last night. Milwaukee Police say the circumstances leading-up to that shooting are still under investigation.
Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson yesterday said he’s making a return to public safety his top priority. The weekend’s two deaths came after Milwaukee ended 2021 with 197 homicides. That’s a new record.
