A new law under consideration would allow Wisconsin utility users to lease their rooftop solar panels.
WPR says Wisconsin is the only state where third-party solar ownership is blocked. A new proposal would clarify that utility customers do not need to own their rooftop installations, and allow for “third-party solar,” in which the company that installs the panels either leases them to the customer or sells the power to the property owner. The bill co-sponsored by two Republican lawmakers could be introduced this fall.
