The week can sometimes feel long or stressful. That’s why we like to open up our Saturday with a lighter appraoch. It’s a little “scroll down memory lane.”

We take a simple look back at some events that paved the way to get us here. It’s an easy way to look back before you go forward into today.

So, grab your favorite sippin’ drink and let’s scroll.

Today is Saturday, November 6th, the 310th day of the year.  There are 55 days until the end of the year.

On this day:

In 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States.

In 1905, Albert Einstein issued his Theory of Relativity.

In 1928, the results of Herbert Hoover’s presidential election victory became the first message transmitted over the electric sign around the top of the “New York Times” building in New York. 

In 1941, the Soviet Union is lent one-million-dollars by the United States.

In 1947, “Meet the Press” debuted on NBC as a local program in Washington, D.C..

In 1958, Marilyn Monroe finished filming the classic movie “Some Like It Hot.”

In 1967, “The Phil Donahue Show” debuted on a local station in Dayton, Ohio.  The program later went into syndication and stayed on the air for 29 years.

In 1997, a Los Angeles judge denied a request by Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and his wife, actress Pamela Anderson, to block Internet Entertainment Group from offering free viewings of a steamy video showing the couple having sex. 

In 2001, The series “24” starring Kiefer Sutherland made its debut on Fox.

In 2005, at least 18 people were killed after a deadly tornado ripped through parts of Indiana and Kentucky.  The storm injured dozens of others and left thousands without power.

In 2015, former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb was sentenced to 18-days behind bars after pleading guilty to an “extreme DUI.”   

In 2018, slavery is abolished as a form of punishment in the state of Colorado.

In 2018, the first openly gay governor, Jared Polis is elected in Colorado

In 2018, the youngest person was elected to the US House of Representatives with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 29.
