Temperatures will moderate across much of Wisconsin over the next several days and fire officials suggest this is a good time to make sure furnaces and chimneys are safe for the upcoming winter months.
If you use a fireplace, you should have a chimney sweep inspect its readiness. Home heating furnaces should also be serviced to make sure there are no issues with carbon monoxide leaking or other problems. And safety with space heaters is critical, so don’t plug a space heater in with other appliances, leave plenty of room away from furniture, curtains or other flammable items and never leave a space heater on unattended.
