The state is seeing a surge of Amber Alerts and deaths from domestic violence.
The Amber Alert coordinator for the state Department of Justice says it’s “pretty glaring that this year is unlike any other.” This year has seen a sharp increase in Amber Alerts with eleven so far, six of which were in Milwaukee. According to an annual report from End Abuse, 58 people in Wisconsin were killed in acts of domestic violence last year. That’s the highest number of victims since at least the year 2000.
