A newly commissioned U.S. Coast Guard ship is named after a former Green Bay Packer.
On Friday, the USCGC Emlen Tunnell was commissioned in Philadelphia. Coast Guard Admiral Karl Schultz said Tunnell is being remembered for his heroism when he saved the lives of two Coast Guard men on the high seas, one during and the other after World War Two. After the war, Tunnell played for the Packers and the New York Giants. He is the first black player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
