On Sunday September 26, 2021, at approximately 1:20PM, Eau Claire Police Officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of E. Clairemont Avenue at University Avenue. The initial responding officers found two vehicles which had sustained severe damage as a result of the crash.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. This person was identified as Elaine Lambrecht, DOB 10-1-1939, of Eau Claire.
A second person was located inside another vehicle and had sustained severe injuries. Extrication was required, during which time, Officers and EMS performed lifesaving measures. The person was transported from the scene by EMS and later died at a local hospital. This person was identified as Mary A. Socha, DOB 9-6-1960, of Eau Claire.
Other vehicles were damaged as a result of the crash. No other injuries were reported. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with crash reconstruction. The cause and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
