The state of Wisconsin is not going to buy the closed paper mills in Wisconsin Rapids and Park Falls.
Governor Evers yesterday cut the mills out of the state’s new budget. Republican lawmakers wanted to use federal stimulus dollars to help re-open the mills. The governor says he doesn’t want to spend any of the state’s two-point-four billion-dollars in stimulus money on something that doesn’t give long term support to the mills or their workers. Northern Wisconsin state Senator Patrick Testin says the governor ‘turned his back’ on mill workers across the state.
