Green Bay’s mayor says he didn’t break the law by working with an outside group that reportedly took over the city’s election operation last fall.
Mayor Eric Genrich yesterday made the case that he didn’t break the law because there is no state law that prohibits cities from working with groups like the Mark Zuckerberg-funded Center for Tech and Civic Life. The mayor is asking the Wisconsin Elections Commission to dismiss a complaint against his office and the city’s clerk. Republicans say Green Bay farmed-out its election operation last fall, paid for by a six-million-dollar grant from the CTCL. The mayor says it is up to state lawmakers to decide if working with outside groups should be illegal.
One of Wisconsin’s Republican lawmakers who went to watch Arizona’s ballot review says she’s impressed.
State Rep. Janel Brandtjen says she learned a lot while in Phoenix over the weekend. She and five other lawmakers went to Arizona to watch Maricopa County’s election audit. Brandtjen said there are some things she saw there that she may use here. Brandtjen is leading hearings at the Wisconsin Capitol into irregularities and lingering questions about last year’s elections in the state.
