Wisconsin’s unemployment office says its new round-the-clock hotline will be open by the fall.
The Department of Workforce Development is moving ahead with a two-million-dollar upgrade that will put someone on the phones 24 hours a day. It was last year at this time that DWD began to get overwhelmed by people needing unemployment assistance. A state audit shows that just a half-a-percent of calls to DWD’s offices were answered.
